Dry brittle hair with lots of knots...how to fix it without breaking the budget if possible?

I always had really smooth curly hair. I moved to different climate changes a few times, played with color once or twice, but I hardly ever take a blow dryer, straightner, curling iron etc to it. My hair has always come out several strands at a time but I have a very dense head of hair and no balding or thinning spots and my hairdresser said it was normal so i never worried about it. But this past year its gotten worse for some reason. I was going through some things emotionally so I haven't done anything to it in almost a year now, but I just recently moved again and now my hair is tangling into these terrible knots that resemble rats nests. What can I do to improve the condition of my hair, and what made it this way in the first place so as not to make the same mistake?Dry brittle hair with lots of knots...how to fix it without breaking the budget if possible?
Well here are some you can chose from to make your hair look healther. :)

......................................鈥?br>

Mash a ripe banana and mix with almond oil.Masage entire head.Leave on for 15 minutes.Rinse thoroughly.

......................................鈥?br>

Take an over ripe avocado:

Mash it up,and blend through dry hair.Leave the mixture in on for 30 minutes.Shampoo thoroughly.

......................................鈥?br>

Mix 1 egg, 1 teaspoon honey, and 2 teaspoons oilive oil.Apply to wet hair.Cover with a shower cap or layer of plastic wrap.Leave on for at least 30 minutes before shapooing out.

......................................鈥?br>

Use yogurt as a conditioner/final rinse.

Rub in after shampooing.Leave on for 20 minutes.Rinse with warm water.

......................................鈥?br>

Mix egg (one to two eggs in a cup not your whole bottle of shampoo it could go bad)with your normal shampoo and rinse(only use cold too warm water it could scramble in your hair!).

......................................鈥?br>

Honey works well if you put some in a cup with your normal conditioner.

Hope I helped!!.

you sid you haven't done anything to it? What is your routine like? Sounds like the cuticle is just really damaged that it is knotting like that. Best thing I can think of and I ama cosmetologist, that wont break the bank, is go to a beauty store, like a sally beauty or something, get silk drops and an anti frizz shampoo that is sulfate free. silk drops while its wet, and after if you think its knotting too much still. be sure to stay a few inches from scalp, may cause greasiness if your hair is prone to be slightly greasy already.
